A pair of additional apartments have been sealed off after multiple complaints from local residents.

The residences on Dickens Drive in Newport are the most recent to be shut down as part of efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour and suspected drug activity.

Gwent Police alongside Hedyn has now obtained closure orders for four properties in the neighbourhood since late last month.

PC Claire Drayton, the crime and disorder reduction officer with the Pill neighbourhood policing team, stated that the partnership with Hedyn had successfully achieved closure orders for all four properties on Dickens Drive following community reports expressing their worries. She noted that residents should be able to feel secure in their own homes and that the effect on locals and traders had been significant.

The closure orders, approved by Gwent Magistrates’ Court, will stay effective for a period of three months.

Those living in the properties were instructed to arrange alternative housing.
