A venue in Caerleon is arranging an evening dedicated to live entertainment later this month.

The Red Lion has revealed plans to welcome Doctor and the Medics alongside The NaNaz for performances.

Doctor and the Medics will be celebrating four decades since their chart-topping track Spirit in the Sky at the establishment.

Their 1986 rendition achieved the top position on the singles chart.

Their scheduled appearance at the venue is believed to represent their sole Welsh show throughout 2025.

The NaNaz, who originate from Newport, appeared in a BBC1 documentary during the past week. The programme explored how the group came together through punk sessions designed for women aged over 50.

The evening will conclude with a DJ playing alternative tracks from the 1980s.

The Red Lion, which runs weekly open mic sessions every Wednesday, will welcome these acts on August 29.
