A 20-year-old man appeared in court after taking a vehicle valued at £28,000 from a car dealership.
Daniel Morecombe, from Clarence Place in Newport, admitted responsibility for the theft at Keith Price Garages in Abergavenny. The incident occurred on 16 November 2024, when he was still a teenager.
Newport Magistrates’ Court sentenced him to 34 weeks in a young offender institution, with the sentence suspended for 18 months. No conditions were imposed because he is currently receiving help from external organisations for his mental health and substance misuse issues.
He was also told to cover £85 in court costs.
