A man from Newport has entered a guilty plea to having cocaine with the purpose of distribution and faces sentencing in the coming month.

Michael Gorry, aged 39 and without a permanent address, submitted his plea during a hearing at Cardiff Crown Court designated for plea discussions and case preparation.

The court was informed that the offence took place on 23 September 2025 within Newport.

James Evans handled the prosecution while Gareth Williams acted as counsel for Gorry.

The proceedings were led by Recorder of Cardiff, Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke.

With Gorry having admitted the charge, the matter was put back for sentencing.

Judges ordered a pre-sentence report to help establish the appropriate punishment, with every sentencing possibility remaining available.

Gorry was allowed unconditional bail and must attend court for sentencing on September 15.
