Indian Cottage has been a fixture of Newport’s culinary landscape since 1984, and is slated to relaunch at its Malpas Road site after shutting down six years ago.

The establishment holds cherished memories for numerous locals, who reminisce about Friday evening dinners, birthday deliveries, and the hospitality of its creator, who initially invited guests into this family enterprise almost four decades ago.

It first launched in 1984 and rapidly became a local favourite, recognised for its excellent standards and personable approach to hospitality.

Glam, the founder’s offspring, assumed control in 1999 and maintained the establishment’s celebrated practices, adhering to the same recipes and techniques that earned its reputation.

Yet the affection for Indian Cottage persisted undiminished.

Posts started surfacing on online platforms from past patrons inquiring whether the establishment would ever resurface, particularly requesting the classic menus that had become intertwined with their lives.

Those classic recipes stayed within the family throughout the intervening years.

Glam retained them, continued preparing them, and is now set to reintroduce them to the identical location where everything started.

He is chronicling the establishment’s revival on Facebook, providing exclusive glimpses, design concepts, and developments as renovations proceed at the Malpas Road venue.

According to Glam, all announcements are being shared via social platforms while the logistics of relaunching are arranged, including attempts to restore the original Indian Cottage contact number.

Glam aims to officially relaunch Indian Cottage in early April, though he emphasises that his priority lies in restoring the elevated standard that patrons recall, meaning this timeline could shift.
