A JCB digger overturned onto its side on a residential street this morning, August 3.

Locals on Risca Road in Newport told of hearing a tremendous bang at around 10am.

Witnesses said the incident occurred as the machine was being positioned onto a low loader transporter, at which point it toppled onto its side.

Reports indicate the digger had been engaged in road maintenance activities.

According to the models available, a JCB can tip the scales at roughly six tonnes up to in excess of 20 tonnes, with the standard JCB 3CX backhoe loader coming in at approximately six to eight tonnes.

These powerful machines are built to undertake demanding operations, capable of hoisting substantial loads, boring several metres into the earth and functioning effectively in demanding environments.
