A fresh retail outlet has opened its doors to offer employment assistance to those with learning difficulties.

The venture comes from Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Community Support Team, operating under the name Islwyn Care 2 Wear, situated at Woodfieldside Business Park in Pontllanfraith. It delivers hands-on commercial experience designed to assist participants in developing workplace abilities and self-assurance as they work toward future job prospects.

Every transaction made at this pre-owned fashion outlet helps fund the programme’s objectives.

All merchandise sold has been handled by programme participants, showcasing their commitment and effort. This covers activities including garment steaming, categorisation, pricing, and window display arrangement.

The business runs on two days each week, opening to shoppers on Wednesdays and Fridays between 10.30am and 2.30pm.

The organisation is seeking contributions of good-quality used garments to support its work assisting people with learning disabilities.

The council has stated that the project seeks to empower participants to achieve self-sufficiency and move into paid work either within the programme or elsewhere.

The premises are situated at Unit 9, NP12 2DG.
