On Sunday, March 29, officers attended after reports of a Shetland pony straying along the Southern Distributor Road in the vicinity of Llanwern High School.
The animal had made its way onto the carriageway, creating a hazard for itself and passing vehicles.
The frightened creature was swiftly retrieved by officers from the local area, who also redirected traffic to prevent any accidents.
A spokesperson stated that officers responded to the emergency call and, with assistance from colleagues and local residents, managed to safely usher the pony away from the traffic flow and restore it to a secure location.
Officials commended the prompt response and collaborative efforts of those who assisted, noting that nobody sustained any injuries. Thanks were offered to everyone who contributed to resolving the situation.
