Dyfed-Powys Police has stated no criminal proceedings will occur regarding the passing of 16-year-old Sky Lewis, who died in hospital in July 2019 after being discovered in her bedroom at a residential home for young people in Pembrokeshire.

The inquiry into her death was halted the previous year after the medical examiner officially informed the Director of Public Prosecutions that Sky’s passing appeared probably due to a homicide offence.

A police representative stated that Dyfed-Powys Police worked with the Crown Prosecution Service regarding the circumstances of this incident and returned the case to the medical examiner. No further police inquiries have been conducted.

The matter will now revert to the coronial process for the inquest to be concluded.

Sky, whose hometown was Wolverhampton, relocated to Wales during childhood and lived in Newport before moving to Cardiff, where she attended Eastern High and was preparing for her GCSE examinations before being placed at the care home near Haverfordwest due to mental health struggles.

Previous inquiry hearings were told she had a background of self-harm and that she was discovered following an attempt to end her own life on July 28, 2019; she passed away three days later on July 31.

Following her passing, Sky’s mother Michaela Fry remembered her daughter as a precious person who found happiness in assisting others despite her own difficulties. Sky’s organs were subsequently given to six recipients.
