Emergency services responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision on Fochriw Road in Bargoed on Sunday, March 30 at approximately 4.40pm.

Two men sustained injuries deemed life-threatening and required hospital treatment. One victim was aged 24 while the other was 52 years old.

Personnel from Gwent Police, the Welsh Ambulance Service and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service were all dispatched to the location near Rhaslas pond.

The road remained shut between Bogey Road as responders managed the incident, with alternative routes established for traffic and motorists advised to steer clear because of anticipated delays.

Authorities posted information on social media platforms to alert drivers about the closure and operational activity at the site. Those travelling through the vicinity were encouraged to utilise the marked diversionary paths and factor in additional travel time while restrictions stayed in effect.
