Breaking: Collision causes disruption in town centre

Published on

Welcome to our live coverage this afternoon.

Newport Bus has announced an incident causing hold-ups on several of its routes, with traffic building up in the area.

Further information will follow.

A road traffic collision is causing extended journey times on routes 27, 29 and 29A. Apologies for any disruption caused.

The AA indicates heavy traffic on the A4042 heading southbound at the B4591 Queensway junction, linked to a prior collision.

The AA shared an image from the scene.

Bus services 27, 29 and 29A are among those experiencing difficulties.

Traffic remains heavy in the vicinity following the earlier collision.

The build-up of vehicles is starting to reduce somewhat.

While some traffic remains, this appears largely attributable to peak-hour conditions rather than the previous incident.

The backlog of traffic has continued to disperse.

With traffic flow now restored, we are ending our coverage.

Thanks for joining us this evening.
