Gwent Police have published the image of a violent man who doused his former partner with a can of Cherry Coke before vowing to knife her.
Craig Bray, 28, from Newport later committed a theft at a care home in the city, taking a television from a shared space.
Hannah Friedman, for the prosecution, told Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court that he attacked his ex-partner in January after suspecting her of infidelity.
She stated he launched the Cherry Coke can at her and struck her following a disagreement during his visit to her.
During the days that followed, Bray subjected her to approximately 140 phone calls in which he delivered serious threats.
Miss Friedman stated that on one instance he informed her he was aware of her location after observing her enter a taxi, claiming he was in pursuit.
He told her he intended to dismember her.
The defendant stated he would pierce her throat with a knife and that he faced a lifetime behind bars.
In her statement describing the effect on her, the woman said she felt worried and unprotected in her own residence.
The break-in at the Cartref Yn Y Coed care home occurred in February after the defendant claimed he was there to see a grandparent.
Bray admitted guilt to assault, harassment and burglary.
He has twelve prior convictions covering twenty offences, including four relating to burglary.
The defendant’s advocate Gareth Williams told the court the conduct toward his former partner was thoroughly disgraceful and degrading.
His legal representative stated that his client expressed genuine regret.
Presiding judge Recorder Dyfed Llion Thomas informed Bray that the threats directed at his ex-partner were utterly inexcusable in their cruelty.
The defendant received a prison term of almost two years and seven months.
Bray will be subject to a ten-year prohibition on contacting the woman and must pay a victim surcharge.
