Teaching assistant runs marathon to help special needs students

A classroom support worker at a Caerleon educational institution is preparing to compete in the Manchester Marathon to collect money for her special needs school.

Lyndsey Jones, employed at Ysgol Bryn Derw, aims to purchase a minibus to enable students to reach local areas and build practical abilities.

The institution provides education for young people between four and 19 years old who have autism and related learning challenges.

Mrs Jones stated: “A minibus would make a huge difference.”

She noted that it would assist the children in gaining self-sufficiency.

She mentioned it would additionally “enrich their education beyond the classroom”.

The marathon is scheduled for April 19.

Mrs Jones is encouraging individuals to contribute through her JustGiving page to back the project available at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/lyndsey-jones-3.

A minibus will enable the school to offer its pupils a broader variety of activities and experiences.
