Man denies careless driving that seriously injured teen cyclist

A 35-year-old man has rejected allegations that he drove carelessly and caused severe harm to a teenage motorcyclist.

Ashley Tyers entered a plea of not guilty to the charge during court proceedings. The incident occurred when Harvey Holmes was transported to medical facility following a road collision in Cwmbran on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

Prosecutors filed the charge following a crash at approximately 7:45am on Cwmbran Drive in the Llantarnam district of the town.

The accused resides at Moy Road in Taff’s Well, Rhondda Cynon Taf. He is scheduled to appear for trial on April 13, 2027, with proceedings anticipated to span three days.

Judge Daniel Williams released the defendant on unconditional bail at Cardiff Crown Court.

Tabitha Walker acted as counsel for Tyers, while Hannah Meredith-Jones represented the prosecution.

Gwent Police reported at the time that Holmes required hospitalization for medical care. According to the police force, emergency responders including officers, Welsh Ambulance Service paramedics, and Welsh Air Ambulance personnel responded to the location.
