A pair of junior performers originating from Torfaen have claimed the title of British Juvenile Classical Sequence Champions.

The 10-year-old Amy and 9-year-old Ella-Mae, both residents of Cwmbran, achieved victory at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens during the acclaimed Blackpool Junior Dance Festival.

Recognized as among the premier juvenile competitions in Britain, the 68th edition of this event gathered the most promising young dancers from across the country, representing a remarkable accomplishment for the victors.

The festival, regarded as the premier event for juvenile and junior sequence dancing, is distinguished by its rigorous technical standards, requiring contestants to demonstrate accuracy and strong musical interpretation.

Amy and Ella-Mae, who devoted extensive hours to preparation over recent months, secured the judges’ approval through their refined routines, displaying coordinated technique, elegance, and rhythmic precision.

Their outstanding collaboration and commitment enabled them to navigate each round with fluidity, building confidence as they progressed toward the championship round.

This triumph carries particular importance within the Classical Sequence division, noted for its challenging requirements.

Despite the category’s demanding reputation, the skilled pair preserved composed execution, earning recognition for their focused methodology.

Both performers study under Jemma Battiscombe of Rhythmic Dance Academy and Martin Bird.

The instructors praised the dancers’ competitive spirit and perseverance throughout the event.

This victory places Amy and Ella-Mae among the distinguished roster of previous winners, whose initial achievements at Blackpool established foundations for distinguished dance careers.

Their success at the festival represents a source of collective pride for their dance institutions, families, and the broader dance community.

This accomplishment highlights the outstanding ability present within Britain’s emerging generation of dancers.
