A crash caused the A40 to be shut in both lanes near Crickhowell for over two hours on April 14, leaving one person requiring hospital treatment for injuries believed to be minor.
Emergency services from Dyfed Powys attended the scene of a two-vehicle incident involving a blue MG 3 and a black Volvo V70 at around 1pm. The closure affected the stretch between Bwlch and Glangrwyney, with drivers advised to stay away and use different routes.
Dyfed Powys Police confirmed that officers attended a two-car road traffic collision occurring at approximately 1pm on the A40 near Crickhowell. The vehicles involved were a blue MG 3 and a black Volvo V70. One individual was taken to hospital with injuries currently classified as minor. The A40 road between Bwlch and Glangrwyney was sealed off and reopened at approximately 3.15pm, once the vehicles had been recovered.
During the incident, those travelling along the route encountered delays and significant congestion. Traffic Wales North and Mid communicated that the A40 at Crickhowell – Tre-Tower Road was impassable in both directions at that time, requesting that drivers find alternative routes and indicating that further information would follow.
After the road reopened at 3.15pm, heavy traffic continued to build up in the vicinity, though by approximately 5.35pm conditions had largely returned to normal.
