The following outlines recent planning determinations issued in Torfaen during the period spanning April 6 through April 12.
Application denied
Plans for a conservatory at 4 Llanthewy Close in Croesyceiliog, Cwmbran have been rejected.
The proposal involved a structure measuring eight metres across, extending 3.55 metres from the north-western side of the dwelling.
The conservatory would have reached 2.9 metres at its highest point and featured a solid ceiling alongside brown brickwork, complemented by white UPVC frames for windows and doors.
Two objections were received from local residents.
The concerns expressed focused on the proposed placement at the property’s front, with claims this would negatively impact the visual appearance of the neighbourhood.
The local authority determined that the design would create an overpowering visual element, failing to align with the established street pattern and architectural character of the area.
Application approved
Plans for a single-storey addition at 123 Bowleaze in Greenmeadow, Cwmbran have received conditional approval.
The project will create an extra bedroom along with a wheelchair-accessible shower facility.
The extension will span 3.8 metres in width and extend 8.9 metres in length.
It will be constructed with a pitched roof design reaching 3.09 metres at its peak, using brick matching the current residence.
Despite the considerable length of the addition, planning officers determined that its limited height and positioning within a private garden setting would not adversely affect the visual qualities of the locality.
The dwelling presently lacks dedicated off-road parking facilities, and no viable option exists to provide such access. Nevertheless, the council acknowledged that communal parking options in the vicinity remain sufficient.
The developer must present a biodiversity and ecological enhancement strategy prior to the extension becoming operational.
