Police issue update after serious incident shuts Newport street

Newport Chronicle: A 61-year-old cyclist has been taken to hospital after a collision with a car on Adeline Street in Newport, which saw the road closed while emergency services responded.

Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on Adeline Street in Newport at around 10.20am on Saturday, 18 April. Officers from Gwent Police attended the scene alongside paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service. The collision involved a bicycle and a car. A 61-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. The road was closed between Adeline Street and Pottery Terrace while emergency services dealt with the incident, causing congestion and diversions in the area. Police later confirmed the route had reopened. Drivers were asked to avoid the area and find alternative routes while the closure was in place.
