Newport Post Office branch closing this month announced

Published on

A Post Office branch in Newport is set to shut its doors temporarily later this month. The facility at Crosshands, operating within the Chepstow Road Spar store, will cease operations from Wednesday April 29 at 8pm. The existing business has been sold, and officials have stated they are working to resume the service promptly. Customers needing Post Office facilities during the closure can attend nearby branches instead. The nearest alternatives are Liswery Post Office on Somerton Road, situated just 0.4 miles away, and Christchurch Road Post Office, located 0.5 miles from the affected branch.

A spokesperson for the Post Office indicated that the temporary closure is due to the sale of the current business, and efforts are underway to bring the service back as quickly as possible. The representative expressed regret for any disruption caused by the shutdown and noted that the two nearby branches would serve as interim options for customers.

Local MP Jessica Morden addressed residents through social media, acknowledging that the closure came as a surprise while confirming that the Post Office intended to resume operations at the earliest opportunity.
