A summary of recent matters dealt with by magistrates has been released.
Aidan Hodges, aged 24 and living in Dewsland Park Road, Newport, entered a guilty plea to breaching sex offender notification rules. He neglected to verify his particulars at a nominated police station within the required timeframe, covering the period from January 29, 2025 through to January 29 of this year. He was ordered to pay £197 comprising a fine, costs and a surcharge.
Lewis Freer, 34, of Victoria Avenue, Newport, was barred from the roads for 16 months after admitting to driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident took place on Avondale Road in Cwmbran on April 4, when breath analysis showed 47 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. A financial penalty of £253 was imposed, covering the fine, costs and surcharge.
Mary Simpson, also 24 and residing at The Links, Trevethin, Pontypool, entered a guilty plea to disregarding red, green arrow and lane closure traffic signals. Three penalty points were added to her driving licence. She was ordered to pay £351 in a fine, costs and surcharge.
Declan Haddow, 19, who is of no fixed address in Rassau, Ebbw Vale, was handed a financial penalty of £310 comprising a fine, costs and compensation after admitting to two charges of making off without settling for fuel and permitting himself to be conveyed in a stolen Mercedes-Benz CLA. The offences occurred on June 25, 2024.
Christian McIntyre, 51, of Allt-Yr-Yn Crescent, Newport, received a six-month driving ban after being found guilty at trial of using a handheld mobile phone or device while operating a vehicle on the SDR and of failing to provide information regarding the identification of a vehicle driver or rider when required to do so. The offences were committed on December 5 last year. He was ordered to pay £420 in fines and a surcharge.
Ricki Mustoe, 42, of Bridget Drive, Sedbury, Chepstow, was prohibited from driving for 17 months after confessing to drink driving on Newport Road. The incident occurred on April 4, with breath analysis revealing 80 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres. He was ordered to pay £253 in a fine, costs and surcharge.
Riversee Ltd, based at Castle Rise, Llanvaches, Newport, entered a guilty plea to failing to provide information relating to the identification of a vehicle driver or rider when required to do so. The company was ordered to pay £736 in a fine, costs and surcharge.
