Window installer aged 53 found dead at home after being discovered

A tradesman from Ebbw Vale who worked fitting windows took his own life at his residence, a coroner’s inquiry has been informed.

Proceedings at Gwent Coroner’s Court in Newport were advised that 53-year-old Michael Eveleigh passed away at his property in Greenways, Ebbw Vale on 23 September 2025.

The inquiry was informed that he died at his residence with no third party involvement. Senior coroner Caroline Saunders determined that his death resulted from self-inflicted means and reached a verdict of suicide.

An examination into Mr Eveleigh’s death commenced on 25 September 2025, two days following his passing, with the inquest formally commencing on 6 October 2025.

A complete hearing took place on 4 April 2026 in Courtroom 1 at Gwent Coroner’s Service, located at Livingstone House on Langstone Business Village, Langstone Park, Newport, with Ms Saunders presiding as senior coroner for the Gwent district.

Mr Eveleigh was born on 5 September 1972 in Abergavenny and pursued a career as a window fitter. His Record of Inquest also contains the particulars required under the Births and Deaths Registration Act 1953 to enable his death to be formally registered.
