A 58-year-old man has been convicted following a trial of committing indecent acts against a child under the age of 14.
The offence took place in Newport during the period spanning from 1998 to 2003, according to evidence presented at Cardiff Crown Court.
The accused had maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings.
Proceedings have been postponed until May 22 to allow for the completion of a pre-sentence report.
Martin Pugh, residing at Chester Close in Caerleon, Newport, was taken into custody by Judge Paul Hobson.
Julia Cox acted as counsel for the defence, while Andrew Davies presented the case on behalf of the Crown.
