A crowd exceeding 7,000 descended on Caerphilly for a celebration of culinary delights and entertainment.

The Caerphilly Food and Drink Festival took place on Saturday, April 18, drawing the largest number of visitors the town centre has seen all year and transforming the streets into a vibrant, family-oriented occasion.

The programme included market stalls selling produce, live cooking displays, craft activities, interactive sessions and performances throughout the area, with highlights such as an enormous wandering sausage and comedy trolley servers.

Eleri’s Welsh Cakes, a trader present at the event, reported achieving record-breaking sales of Welshcakes and expressed admiration for the festival’s success.

The festival is staged by Caerphilly County Borough Council as part of an initiative aimed at strengthening the regional economy.

Sarah Harris-Clint, who runs Ffos Caerffili, noted that the venue experienced its busiest trading day of the year so far.

She added that welcoming both residents and tourists to support independent enterprises was wonderful, with several Ffos Caerffili vendors enjoying their most successful day since launching their ventures.

Across the county borough, four events held since the start of 2026 have attracted a combined total exceeding 18,500 visitors to various town centres.
