Two prominent figures from the British folk music world are set to perform at a historic venue in South Wales next month.
Miranda Sykes and Jim Causley will give a concert at St Cadoc’s Church in Caerleon, a site notable both for its architecture and its past as the headquarters of the Roman Legionary Fortress of Isca.
The event on Saturday, May 9, forms part of the programme arranged by the Tredegar House Folk Festival’s organizers.
According to festival director Sue Oates, the festival would take a break in 2026 before relaunching in a larger and more robust form in 2027, but the team remained dedicated to bringing outstanding, internationally renowned folk performers to local audiences. She pointed to Miranda Sykes and Jim Causley as examples of this commitment, calling them truly exceptional artists.
Sykes has built an international reputation as a double bass player, singer, and guitarist through her work with folk supergroup Show Of Hands.
Causley, who performs on concertina, is regarded as Britain’s leading folk singer.
The evening will additionally feature Ron Savory and Greg, known as The Voice, Rowlands, a folk musician from South Wales.
