A family-run car dealership has revealed intentions to shut one of its principal showrooms as part of a wider strategy to reorganise its operations.
Ron Skinner & Sons is preparing to close its Cross Hands outlet in Carmarthenshire in order to consolidate resources and increase investment at its remaining branches throughout South Wales.
The move follows an assessment of the business, with management choosing to concentrate on its facilities in Tredegar, Cardiff, and Neyland.

A spokesperson for Ron Skinner & Sons said the company wanted to assure customers who had purchased Drive Packages, Warranty and Aftersales Packages through the Cross Hands showroom that their agreements would remain unaffected.
All such packages would continue as originally arranged, with customers able to access the Tredegar, Cardiff or Neyland branches instead.
The business added that vehicle collection services would be maintained where required to provide a straightforward and convenient experience for customers.
The closure coincides with a time of mourning and change for the firm following the recent passing of its founder.

The company indicated it wished to express gratitude to Cross Hands customers for their patronage over the years and looked forward to serving them at alternative locations as development and investment in Ron Skinner & Sons continued.
The company also verified that work continued on upgrading its Tredegar facility, which underwent reconstruction following a significant fire in August 2024.
The inferno, which required over one hundred firefighters to bring under control, resulted in damage costing millions of pounds and necessitated an extended period of closure while rebuilding took place.
In 2025, the company announced that final preparations were being completed ahead of the full reopening of the Tredegar branch.

The Cross Hands showroom, situated on Heol Parc Mawr within Cross Hands Business Park, was one of four facilities operated by the business.
Customers in the area are being advised to use alternative branches in Tredegar, Neyland and Cardiff.
Ron Skinner & Sons has given assurances that current vehicle agreements stay in effect, and alternative service arrangements have been established to reduce inconvenience.
The company confirmed vehicle collection services would stay available for those unable to visit in person.
Internet-based sales and bookings continue to be accessible through the company’s website, enabling customers to reserve vehicles prior to visiting a showroom.
The closure forms part of the company’s current phase of business development.
