Two new defibrillators have been placed by Blackwood Town Council.

These emergency devices can now be used outside the BMI and the Methodist Church.

Members agreed to arrange training sessions for all councilors regarding defibrillator operation.

This topic came up during the April 13 gathering, which saw attendance from G Etheridge, J Griffiths, D Box, C Clarke, D Davies, N Dix, A Farina-Childs, M Gwynne, R Mills, L Perkins, and A Short.

Absence notifications were sent by K Etheridge, K Williams, and P Cook.

Law enforcement updates showed improvement, with criminal activity declining across multiple zones.

Borough updates included information about the Showfield parking area, where drainage improvements and road surface fixes are presently being carried out.

Applications for safety bollards at Blackwood Primary School were turned down as the footpath measures only 1.2 metres, with regulations mandating a minimum of 1.5 metres for such installations.

Residents across all parts of Blackwood have contacted the council regarding road surface damage, and inspections and repairs have been requested.

A funding petition from Blackwood Cricket Club for £250 was put on hold until further details about previous awards are supplied.

An event will be organised to highlight the grant awarded to Blackwood Rugby Club for flood protection measures.

The council gave unanimous backing for leave of absence for Councillor K Williams.

Four Information Access requests have been submitted, and directions have been issued to point applicants toward the requested materials, which are already published online.

Members also considered postal expenses to householders, noting a rise compared to the previous fiscal year.

They decided to keep postal costs under review and revisit the matter at a later sitting.

All payments outlined in the invoices schedule received approval, with the total amount reaching £22,564.80.

Council members also agreed to send formal correspondence to CCBC concerning the ARUP bridge assessment and Chartist Bridge modifications, given the study was finalised over twelve months prior yet not distributed despite repeated petitions.

The authority confirmed continuation of its One Voice Wales affiliation at a cost of £1,685.
