A duo of men burgled a family-owned jewellery store in a city centre and made off with items valued at £8,000.
Costica Munteanu and Spaderman Muntean faced accusations of plundering Xclusive Jewellers in Newport on June 30.
The two stood accused of stealing £8,000 worth of jewellery during the raid.
Each man also faced charges relating to criminal property, with allegations that Munteanu possessed £960 obtained through unlawful means and Muntean held £790 in proceeds of crime.
Both accused parties attended Cardiff Crown Court where they entered guilty pleas to theft but contested the charges concerning criminal property.
The prosecution accepted these pleas and the matter was postponed to allow pre-sentence reports to be compiled for both individuals.
Munteanu, who is 44, and the 20-year-old Muntean, both residing on Strathbrook Road in London, were each released on bail.
They are due back at the court in September for sentencing.
A third accused, 38-year-old Ancuta Rostas, also from Strathbrook Road in London, had been indicted for handling stolen property.
Rostas contested the allegation and was released after the prosecution withdrew evidence.
Following an earlier break-in at her establishment in June, Annette Farmer, proprietor of Xclusive Jewellers, appealed to police to boost their presence in the city centre through comments to the South Wales Argus.
Ms Farmer observed that numerous other enterprises had suffered break-ins over recent months and that residents were abandoning the area due to safety concerns.
She questioned how long until another incident occurred and expressed frustration about the ongoing situation.
