A young boy aged three from the Newport region became distressed while swimming at Bryngarw Country Park.
A bystander performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the child prior to paramedics arriving at the scene.
The youngster was conveyed to a medical facility and is presently reported to be in a stable condition.
The emergency services were called at approximately 2.40pm on Saturday, July 4.
South Wales Police have confirmed that officers were dispatched to Bryngarw Country Park in Bridgend on Saturday July 4 at around 2.40pm after receiving reports that a child had entered water and was experiencing difficulties.
Prior to the arrival of the ambulance crew, a member of the public had administered CPR to the child.
The boy, who is three years old and from the Newport area, has been admitted to hospital where his condition is described as stable.
Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding this event are presently underway.
