Risca East Community Council has appointed a fresh member to its ranks.

During the council gathering on July 27, two candidates appeared and delivered brief personal introductions.

Following deliberations and a ballot, Tara Holloway was officially inducted as a new community council representative.

The session commenced at 5.30pm with chairman Brandon Ham presiding, alongside fellow councillors Christine Thomas, Zoe Davies, Phillipa Leonard, Arianna Leonard, and Vim Goraniya.

Absence notices were submitted by councillors Nigel George and Roger Smith.

Council members also examined plans for signage at Ty-Sign Park, which necessitate approval from Caerphilly County Borough Council prior to any installation work.

The council is pursuing guidance from CCBC about required consents and related conditions.

The perimeter fencing at Ty-Sign, having suffered additional harm, will undergo restoration by the original installing firm.

The information display board on Herbert Avenue has been refreshed, but the council requires authorisation from CCBC to dismantle it, given the prior consensus that a single noticeboard would be retained to simplify resident access.

Marquees have been acquired by the council, though objections were voiced about their packaging method.

The vendor will be approached to address the matter.

Financial records showed the council’s account standing at £8,000 when figures were presented.

Local inhabitants flagged worries about vehicle parking on Herbert Avenue and the storage of touring vehicles at Channel View Community Centre.

Elected members are presently examining these matters.

Incidents of refuse disposal and loitering across fields adjacent to Risca Leisure Centre have been reported, with CCBC conducting inquiries.
