British Town Hosts Experimental Military Drone Trials

Published on

Several drone aircraft were spotted flying over Monmouthshire during a windy Tuesday afternoon on April 28.

The vehicles took off from an area close to Usk and were taking part in a demonstration arranged by Applied Intuition UK, which is currently developing new software through the Disruptor Group—a partnership that includes British businesses and university partners.

This programme has been running for four and a half months.

Iain Lamont MBE, who leads Applied Intuition UK, said the experience feels quite different because everything happens on a screen but it represents the progression of combat technology from ancient weapons to modern firearms and beyond.

Guy Hennings-Haahr, land systems manager at Applied Intuition UK, explained that the goal is not to substitute existing military capabilities but rather to maintain pace with the evolving threat.

He added that their responsibility involves making certain that meaningful human oversight remains in place at the critical moment.
