Newport is preparing to host a celebration of cuisine and melodies towards the end of this month.

The Big Food Festival will arrive at Beechwood Park from July 24 to 26, offering visitors a complete weekend experience featuring street vendors, Welsh artisan beverages and performances by musicians.

Admission costs nothing and the gathering welcomes families alongside those with pets.

Maria Gania, co-founder and event director of Big Food Festival, expressed enthusiasm about bringing the event to Newport, noting that every single trader undergoes personal selection to guarantee quality across all offerings. She added that the collaboration with Newport Summer Sessions ensures an impressive musical backdrop throughout the weekend. She encouraged attendees to bring their relatives, their canine companions and their hunger. Entry being complimentary means people should simply attend.

No two vendors will prepare identical dishes, guaranteeing an extensive variety of tastes.

Guests can anticipate options ranging from smashed patty burgers and tender slow-cooked barbecue to Japanese-inspired cuisine, Mediterranean Greek fare, Afghan specialties and confections prepared on the premises.

The beverage area will stock a chosen range of Welsh artisan drinks, encompassing ales, ciders, spirits and non-alcoholic options.

The festival was established in 2025 by Ms Gania alongside Stephanie Silva and debuted at Gnoll Country Park in Neath.

Since then, it has grown throughout South and West Wales with gatherings held in Brecon, Swansea and Aberystwyth.

This marks the inaugural appearance in Newport.
