A 51-year-old Dudley man has been ordered to pay £690 after admitting that he assaulted a woman in Newport.
Brian McDonagh, of Tennyson Street in Pensnett, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault by beating on June 21.
McDonagh had previously denied the allegation before changing his plea. Presiding justice Rebecca Bloyce said he had been given credit for admitting the offence.
The court fined him £432 and ordered him to pay a £173 victim surcharge and £85 towards prosecution costs.
The three amounts produced a total financial penalty of £690. A collection order requires McDonagh to pay the full sum by October 18.
