A 23-year-old has entered pleas of not guilty to a pair of attempted murder allegations and is scheduled to face trial next year.

Joshua Moore, from Crouch Close in Bettws, Newport, faces accusations of attempting to kill Kellan Pope and Byron Stokoe during an event on Hargreaves Drive on Thursday 23 July.

The accused also rejected two counts of wounding with intent relating to the same two men.

Proceedings at Cardiff Crown Court fixed a hearing for 18 January 2027, with an anticipated duration of two weeks.

Moore was kept in detention ahead of the trial.

Andrew Taylor acted as his defence counsel while Emma Harris represented the Crown.

The matter was presided over by Recorder of Cardiff, Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke.

The previous month at Hargreaves Drive, officers conducted their work in a forested section situated behind the road. One residence was also sealed off as part of the investigation.

Scientific support unit personnel were observed entering the house, while sections of the trees were marked with tape and subjected to examination.

Locals spoke of being woken by emergency lighting and a substantial security operation, with residents standing outside observing as the inquiry progressed.

Urgent response vehicles stayed at the location until late morning while officers gathered evidence.
