A well-known fashion label is shutting down its online platform this week following administration proceedings initiated in May.
Radley London’s digital storefront will cease operations on August 19 at midnight, giving shoppers mere hours to take advantage of heavily reduced prices in the final clearance event.
Gordon Brothers, the company behind Poundland, acquired Radley in May, but according to retail industry publication Retail Week, all UK locations are now expected to shut their doors by the end of August.
At that point, Gordon Brothers, which additionally operates LK Bennett, secured the Radley brand, its intellectual property and select assets through a pre-pack administration arrangement.
The acquisition did not encompass Radley’s physical retail operations, comprising 21 outlets throughout the UK. The company stated that 42 positions would be eliminated immediately as a consequence.
Discounted merchandise has also appeared in physical UK locations, with shoppers able to purchase handbags with reductions reaching 70 percent, meaning certain items carry price cuts exceeding £100 from standard retail values.
Customers at the Radley outlet situated at Clarks Village in Somerset have been informed the store will be closing. The handbag retailer displayed notices in shop windows confirming the shutdown.
Newsquest has reached out to Gordon Brothers for a statement.
The British high street has witnessed numerous retailers closing locations and entering administration this year. Major brands LK Bennett, Claire’s and Quiz have been compelled to close all remaining outlets after falling into administration. Fashion retailer Leading Labels is also preparing to shut its final 15 stores following liquidation proceedings.
