A collection of classic British sitcoms and comedy programmes is set to return to British television screens at no cost, with one favourite making its first appearance in more than a decade.
Rewind TV will devote its entire September schedule to four well-known series.
The channel is bringing back a selection of audience favourites, comprising Harry Hill’s TV Burp, Time Gentlemen Please, Grumpy Old Men, and Doctor at Sea.
Harry Hill’s TV Burp marks its comeback to British screens for the first time since concluding in 2012, serving as the centrepiece of the channel’s comedy revival.
Jonathan Moore, co-founder of Rewind TV, explained that providing viewers with opportunities to rediscover programmes they have not been able to watch for years is central to the channel’s mission. He expressed particular excitement about welcoming Harry Hill’s TV Burp back to British television after more than ten years, alongside other much-loved titles.
The September comedy programming follows Rewind TV’s August spotlight on cult horror content.
All four series will broadcast on the channel from early September according to the following schedule:
Time Gentlemen Please begins September 3 at 9.30pm
Grumpy Old Men begins September 6 at 9.30pm
Harry Hill’s TV Burp begins September 7 at 7pm, with each episode aired again the following day at 1pm
Doctor at Sea begins September 11 at 10am and 8pm
Harry Hill’s TV Burp represents a particularly significant comeback, returning to British screens for the first time in over a decade.
The comedy clip programme featured the comedian reviewing the previous week’s television offerings across various genres, with episodes frequently containing sketches and humorous re-imaginings.
The show ran on ITV for eleven years from 2001 to 2012 and accumulated three BAFTA awards alongside numerous British Comedy Awards.
Rewind TV operates as a free-to-air British television channel that broadcasts classic and vintage British and American productions, comedies, and cult series.
The channel initially launched on Sky in May 2024 before expanding to Freeview later that year in September. It subsequently became available on Freesat in June, enabling it to reach all major over-the-air free television platforms nationwide.
