An emergency operation was launched and local residents were advised to seal their homes after a fire erupted in the Man Moel Road district of Ebbw Vale on the evening of August 19.

The flames are understood to have started in that part of the town.

Gwent Police took to their social media channels to announce that emergency responders, including South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, had arrived at the location.

Motorists were urged to steer clear of the vicinity and adhere to the alternative routes that had been set up for their protection.

Those living nearby who were experiencing smoke exposure were also told to keep all entry points firmly shut.

A Gwent Police representative stated that crews were attending the incident on Man Moel Road in Ebbw Vale, with South Wales Fire and Rescue Service present. Those in the neighbourhood were asked to close every door and window. The official added that diversions had been arranged for public safety and people should choose different routes for any journeys.

It remains unknown whether the fire has been brought under control and whether normal traffic flow has resumed in the vicinity.
