Ebbw Vale barn fire on Man Moel Road extinguished after multi-station response

Emergency crews responded to a structure fire at a farm building in Ebbw Vale during the afternoon of August 19.

The incident occurred on Man Moel Road at approximately 4.19pm, with flames affecting a barn structure.

Firefighting units from Abercynon, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil and Risca arrived at the location, with additional assistance provided by the Mid and West Fire and Rescue Service.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control employing water bowsers, a pair of 45mm hoses, three hose reel appliances, two sets of breathing equipment and a couple of thermal imaging devices. The all-clear was given at approximately 8.13pm.

A representative from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service reported that crews were dispatched following a call at around 16:19 regarding a fire on Man Moel Road in Ebbw Vale. Appliances from Abercynon, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil and Risca attended together with support from Mid and West Fire and Rescue Service. The flames were brought under control using water bowsers, two 45mm jets, three hose reel jets, two breathing apparatus units and two thermal imaging cameras. The stop message came through at approximately 20:13.

While emergency responders worked at the scene, residents were urged to stay away from the vicinity and use alternative routes.

A Gwent Police representative stated that emergency services were attending a fire on Man Moel Road in Ebbw Vale. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service personnel were present at the location. Those living nearby were advised to keep all doors and windows shut. Traffic diversions were implemented for public safety, and motorists were asked to use different routes for their journeys.
