A resident at a care home has celebrated reaching 100 years of age with her relatives, other people living at the home, and employees.

Elsie Maidment, who has been at Aria Care Home for seven years, commemorated the occasion on August 11, with festivities arranged alongside her daughters Yvonne and Leslie.

The gathering united multiple generations of Elsie’s family alongside other residents and staff members for a day of festivities.

Her daughters expressed their desire to ensure the day was particularly memorable and collaborated extensively with the care home personnel to arrange the event.

A representative from Aria Care Home stated that it had been an honour to celebrate with Elsie, her family, and all those at the home. The representative noted that Elsie and her family had been part of the Aria community for seven years, and the team had been thrilled to share in this remarkable achievement for a remarkable woman.

Elsie has spent her entire life residing in Newport, where she was born.

The celebrations featured a specially written message from King Charles III, dispatched to offer congratulations on her centenary.

Care home workers and other residents took part with the family in honouring Elsie’s 100th birthday throughout the course of the day.
