Newport u3a Skittles Group wins match at St Julian Inn during summer recess

Published on

During the summer break, the Skittles section of Newport u3a continued gathering at the St Julian Inn.

When conditions were favourable, members spent pleasant afternoons enjoying French boules in the pub’s attractive garden bordering the river.

Participants divided into two sides; Les Escargots (snails) began slowly but soon surpassed Les Grenouilles (frogs) to secure the win.

As might be expected, the losing team was rather displeased!

After the match, several members took it easy on the sun deck while a live jazz band performed and soaked up the scenic views.

Newport u3a operates 40 lively social and cultural groups for retired individuals at the Dolman Theatre during the academic year.

Meetings will restart on September 9.
