Caldicot Musical Theatre Society
For over a century, Caldicot Musical Theatre Society has united residents through musical theatre productions.
Established in 1925, the organisation operates as a registered charity and welcoming amateur theatre group located in the Caldicot region.
Participants gather weekly to practise and stage performances, forming lasting bonds that extend beyond the theatre itself, creating what members describe as a true society family.
Roles are available for those wishing to appear on stage or contribute behind the scenes, encompassing singing, acting, choreography, costume design, technical operations, and stage management.
At present, the group meets on Monday evenings in Caerwent and encourages newcomers to join, regardless of whether they have prior performance experience or simply wish to explore musical theatre.
The society is currently working on one of its most ambitious productions to date: We Will Rock You.
The performance showcases over twenty classic Queen tracks, such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody to Love, Don’t Stop Me Now, and We Are the Champions. The narrative unfolds in a dystopian future where musical expression is suppressed and personal freedom is forbidden.
Protagonists Galileo, Scaramouche, and an assortment of rebellious Bohemians strive to revive rock music while confronting the powerful Killer Queen.
Caldicot Musical Theatre Society will present We Will Rock You at Caldicot School on Friday the thirtieth and Saturday the thirty-first of October 2026, with evening shows and a Saturday afternoon performance.
Having sustained community connections through musical theatre for a century, the society continues to thrive, and this autumn, it aims to energise Caldicot with Queen’s greatest hits.
