A hugely successful theatrical production is set to arrive in Wales.

The Olivier Award-winning West End sensation Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of), created by Isobel McArthur, will stage performances at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff between April 13 and 17 as part of an extensive British tour.

Producer David Pugh stated that the production has become a global phenomenon, having toured across Canada and recently achieving a triumphant launch in Australia, and expressed his pleasure that this new version, which will travel throughout the United Kingdom for the next twelve months, is premiering at the Chelmsford theatre.

McArthur both wrote and directed the adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel, presenting what has been described as a daring, cheeky, and heartfelt reinterpretation of the cherished romance.

The production showcases a talented ensemble and incorporates popular music hits such as Young Hearts Run Free, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, and You’re So Vain within a tale exploring romance, marriage schemes, and class aspirations in early 19th-century England.

The company features Georgia May Firth portraying Elizabeth Bennet, Eva Hope taking on the roles of Jane Bennet and Lady Catherine de Burgh as Mary Bennet, Lydia Bennet, and Mr Gardiner, Julia Murray playing Mrs Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy, and Phoebe Marshall as Charlotte Lucas, Charles Bingley and Miss Bingley.

Emily Cruz, Grace Farrell, and Anastasia Sims-Chin serve as understudies.

The creative lineup includes comic staging by Jos Houben, set and costume design by Ana Inés Jabares-Pita, lighting by Ryan Joseph Stafford, musical direction by Michael John McCarthy, and dance direction by Emily Jane Boyle.

The production forms part of a twelve-month UK tour.
