A significant revamp of a Blaenau Gwent shopping area is planned, featuring new decorations, greenery, and a volunteer clean-up operation.

Beaufort Street in Brynmawr secured the initiative following a survey where over 72 percent of participants backed the spot.

The single-day activity is scheduled for Saturday, August 22, and involves cooperation between the local authority, traders, inhabitants, and local organisations.

Cabinet member for economy and place, Councillor John Morgan, explained that Towns Together showcases the Blaenau Gwent Deal approach, illustrating how neighbourhoods can collaborate with the council to enhance their local area.

He noted that traders and locals have expressed their wish for town centre upgrades, and while the council plays a crucial part, genuine sustainable transformation emerges when all parties unite, complete the work, and develop genuine affection for their town and commitment to maintaining it.

Through this united effort, the aim is to develop town centres that attract visitors and encourage commercial investment.

Preparations are already underway, with council officers consulting traders and residents to collect suggestions and boost involvement.

The upgrades may involve redecoration, tidying, and landscaping, all intended to produce a more inviting atmosphere for shoppers and visitors.

Before the transformation begins, council workers will pressure-wash the zone to guarantee a fresh start.

The Brynmawr undertaking will be succeeded by a comparable occasion in Nantyglo as the Towns Together scheme continues.
