An initiative aimed at connecting with young people took place in Newbridge, bringing law enforcement officers, local youth workers and residents together for an evening of entertainment and interaction.

The gathering occurred on the evening of Friday, August 7, and commenced with a football programme held at the Newbridge Leisure Centre in partnership with the Gwent Dragons. The programme then moved to Newbridge Baptist Church where attendees participated in various pastimes such as creative workshops, singing sessions and camera work.

A representative from Gwent Police explained that the collaboration between officers and Caerphilly Youth Services formed part of a bridging the gap project designed to reach out to children and teenagers living in the area. The football session at the leisure centre offered participants an opportunity to exercise, develop friendships and enjoy themselves. The group subsequently made use of facilities at the Baptist Church where young people engaged in artistic pursuits, musical activities and photographic exercises. Credit was given to all those who contributed to making the session a success and helping to foster stronger bonds throughout the neighbourhood. The purpose of the occasion was to interact constructively with younger members of the public and deepen community ties.
