A collision has led authorities to advise motorists to steer clear of the location and use other roads on Sunday, August 9.

The alert was issued in the early hours by Gwent Police, with officers urging vehicle operators to bypass the Mountain Road stretch in Caerphilly.

A force representative stated that emergency services were managing a road traffic incident on Mountain Road in Caerphilly, asking people to stay away if possible and consider other options for their travel plans.

Gwent Police have not yet confirmed whether the road has been reopened, though traffic monitoring sources indicate the area is no longer experiencing delays.

The incident was among several calls for assistance Gwent Police responded to throughout the weekend.

Officers attended Main Road Link in Brynmawr on Saturday, August 8, with the route shut for a number of hours while diversion arrangements resulted in increased congestion compared to typical conditions.

In other incidents, officers also attended a collision on the A469 between Llandbradach and the Coed Y Brain roundabout.
