Multiple people have been charged after a series of arrests, public order incidents and investigations took place throughout Caerphilly over the course of a week.
On Monday, August 5, one individual was apprehended in Caerphilly town for violating bail conditions. He subsequently appeared before magistrates and was found guilty of a public order offence and breaching a community protection notice.
On that same day, a second individual was taken into custody after being recalled to prison. Officers discovered him concealed beneath bedding at a property close to Lansbury Park and he has been sent back to serve his sentence.
A representative from Gwent Police stated that one individual was apprehended in Caerphilly town for violating bail conditions following a disturbance at the Ffos the previous week. He was immediately taken to court where he was convicted of a public order offence and breaching his community protection notice. On the same day, another individual was also detained after being recalled to prison. He was discovered trying to hide under bedding at a property near Lansbury Park. His attempts at concealment proved unsuccessful and he has been returned to custody.
On Tuesday, August 6, officers from the neighbourhood policing team supported their colleagues in the Porset Park area where a domestic abuse suspect fled by leaping through a window. He was immediately chased on foot and detained. He remains in police detention facing domestic violence charges and assault on an emergency service worker.
A force spokesperson reported that neighbourhood policing team officers supported response officers in the Porset Park area of Caerphilly. A repeat domestic abuse offender leapt from an upstairs window in an attempt to evade police. He fled on foot but was swiftly pursued and arrested. He is presently in police custody charged with domestic violence offences and assaulting an emergency service worker.
Community support officers also located a stolen motor vehicle in the Churchill Park Estate area after it was taken the previous evening. The vehicle has been recovered and inquiries continue. Shortly afterwards, the same officers spotted a wanted individual in the Energlyn area. He was sought in connection with vehicle theft and interference offences committed in the early hours. He was detained within minutes of being sighted and has been charged, with a court appearance scheduled.
Officers then encountered a group behaving antisocially in Caerphilly town centre adjacent to NatWest on August 7. The group were consuming alcohol, using foul language and one person was urinating in public. A report was subsequently received that one of the men had verbally threatened employees at a nearby bakery. Two men were arrested. One has been charged with being drunk and disorderly in a public place, while the other faces charges of breaching his community protection notice and a Section 4 public order offence. Both are required to appear before magistrates.
