Firefighters are anticipated to remain at the moorland blaze location over the coming days.

The fire is burning on heathland close to Llangynidr Reservoir in the Ebbw Vale area, with personnel from both South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service in attendance.

A representative for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service stated that the moorland fire near Llangynidr Reservoir is continuing and has spread due to windy conditions and the challenging terrain, with considerable smoke persisting in the area. As part of their ongoing assessment of the incident, weather conditions and the resources required, a specialist firefighting helicopter is now assisting crews on the ground. They anticipate remaining at the scene for several days and will continue to assess their response daily as conditions develop.

Members of the public are being asked to follow guidance which includes avoiding flying drones in the area as they can interfere with emergency operations, and remaining away while emergency services work to control the blaze.
