Gwent Police have opened a murder case after a man in his mid-fifties passed away following unrest on the evening of Thursday, August 6. Stay informed with our continuous coverage for breaking developments.

The deceased has been identified as Anthony Jones, known as Tony, 56, from Brecon, who was transported to hospital with severe injuries before succumbing to them.

Seven individuals have been detained in relation to the disturbance, and all remain in detention at present.

Officers from Gwent Police have been dedicating themselves fully to inquiries as part of the case, with Mill Road and Hospital Road currently sealed off to traffic.

It appears that Mill Road and Hospital Road will probably stay shut throughout today and potentially into Monday, according to Torfaen County Council.

Detectives are keen to speak with anyone who was present in the Hospital Road and Mill Road vicinity between 6pm and 9pm on Thursday evening, particularly drivers who may have dashboard camera recordings.

The seven men apprehended range in age from 31 to 73 years old and are all currently being held by police.
