Welsh broadcaster S4C has secured the rights to air domestic football in Wales for a further three-year period.

The channel will maintain its offering of at least 40 live encounters annually, featuring the Novira Cymru Premier, Genero Adran Leagues, FAW Welsh Cup, and Bute Energy Welsh Cup.

The programme Sgorio will mark its nineteenth successive year of providing football coverage without charge to viewers.

Sue Butler, head of sport at S4C, said the channel was pleased to extend its long-standing arrangement with the Football Association of Wales and bring Welsh domestic football to audiences for a third decade at a time when the Cymru Premier is expanding to sixteen clubs.

The deal guarantees live broadcasts of the Novira Cymru Premier, Genero Adran Leagues, and both the men’s and women’s Welsh Cups, including the two cup finals.

Selected Novira Cymru Premier matches will be available on S4C Clic, BBC iPlayer, and the Sgorio YouTube channel, with certain games scheduled for Friday evenings and Saturdays.

Sgorio is also boosting its commitment to the women’s game by showing ten live matches each season from the Genero Adran Premier, Genero Adran Trophy, and Bute Energy Cup.

Jack Sharp, head of domestic leagues at the Football Association of Wales, said the organisation was pleased to continue working with S4C, which would result in more domestic fixtures being shown free to air for supporters throughout the United Kingdom.

The new campaign begins on July 31 when Barry Town United entertain Cambrian United.
