A summary of recent cases dealt with by magistrates has been released.

Reece Smith, aged 27 and residing at Holst Close in Newport, was ordered to pay a total of £408 comprising a financial penalty, associated costs and an additional surcharge for maintaining a motor vehicle that lacked the necessary insurance coverage.

Marcus Charles F Doughty, whose address is Plane Tree Close in Caerleon, Newport, received an identical penalty of £408, also consisting of a fine, costs and surcharge, for the offence of keeping an uninsured motor vehicle.

Jayce Ewers, 40 years old and living on Stow Hill in Newport, was directed to pay £110 in the form of a fine and costs after acknowledging responsibility for breaching a community requirement attached to a suspended prison sentence by missing scheduled appointments.

Toby Hankins, aged 20 and from Mounton Road in Chepstow, received a £40 fine following his admission of failing to meet community order obligations through non-attendance at appointments.

Gavin Kimber, 49, of Glan Ebbw Terrace in Abertillery, must pay £228 including a fine, costs and surcharge for operating or installing a television receiver without holding the required licence.

Thomas Jones, 40 years old and residing at Portland Street in Abertillery, was ordered to pay £408 encompassing a fine, costs and surcharge for possessing a motor vehicle that did not satisfy insurance requirements.

Tudor Ion, 25, of Methuen Road in Newport, was handed a £220 fine and instructed to reimburse £86.25 in unpaid duty alongside £85 in costs for keeping a vehicle without a current vehicle licence.

Timotei Avram, aged 25 and living on Pottery Road in Newport, must pay £455 in total comprising a fine, costs and surcharge after entering a guilty plea to the unauthorised disposal of household waste without holding a valid environmental permit on October 12 the previous year.

Robert Kandrac, 33, whose address is George Street in Newport, was directed to pay £715.63 consisting of a fine, costs and surcharge after pleading guilty to the offence of disposing of household waste without possessing a current environmental permit on July 8 the previous year.

Magda Hannaford, of Coed Main in Caerphilly, was ordered to pay £1,510.36 comprising a fine, costs and surcharge after the case was proven in their absence for failing, without reasonable justification, to adhere to a requirement under section 108 of the Environment Act 1995 to attend an interview on August 8 the previous year in connection with an ongoing fly-tipping matter, having been served with a notice.
