Newport venue takes centre stage as city’s top live music spot

Newport’s nightlife landscape presents considerable diversity, with the city centre providing options spanning from conventional pubs to late-night entertainment venues and karaoke outlets. A particular establishment is presently undergoing a transformation to position itself as a dedicated musical venue.

Fire & Ice has experienced multiple rebrandings throughout its existence. It first opened its doors in the early 2000s on Cambrian Road as a nightclub trading under the name Ritzy’s, recognised for its lively ambiance and wide-ranging musical repertoire.

Since that era, the property has seen various changes including renovations and additional name alterations. Currently, the venue is initiating another transition as it shifts away from its conventional nightclub model.

Now, Fire and Ice is working to establish itself among Newport’s foremost live music venues, presenting an extensive programme of performing acts each weekend alongside vibrant evenings crafted to deliver an exceptional experience.

The establishment states that their emphasis will be on offering stages for celebration-focused bands to perform for audiences who genuinely appreciate the music, with shows featuring popular singalong favourites intended to keep dancefloors occupied throughout the night.

The venue will present various musical styles during these events, ensuring no visitor feels excluded and that choices are available to accommodate all preferences within their weekly schedule.

Each live performance is accompanied by DJ sets both before and after every band’s appearance, setting the atmosphere early and maintaining it well into the evening.

A representative for Fire & Ice commented to the Argus that their ambition is to create nights where guests can genuinely enjoy live music, big songs, fantastic energy, and a packed dancefloor. It’s about bringing people together and providing them with an authentic evening out.

Equipped with professional sound equipment, lighting systems, and a purpose-built stage, this establishment has built a loyal customer base among those seeking lively evenings focused on quality music they can fully immerse themselves in.

Fire & Ice maintains a comprehensive calendar of band performances scheduled throughout 2026, with concerts set for every weekend and further acts still to be announced.

While live music remains central to its character, Fire & Ice also accommodates various group bookings and special events, with packages and complimentary table reservations available through the venue’s website for those looking to celebrate in an energetic part of Newport.
